The Power of Passports (2017)

What does it mean to have the right passport? A passport functions as a statement of citizenship. Yet, a passport can also give access to a better life, as well as to secure a safe passage in the journey towards refuge. With this artwork, that could be seen as a reflecting Adin’s personal experience of migration, the artist calls on one to reconsider the importance of this seemingly mundane ‘object’: the passport. In this contemplative exercise in empathy, while seeing your face in the mirror, one is asked to imagine: how different would your life be if you had a different, or even no, passport?
